GOALS
RRKE aims to guide and push its members to their full potential and shall serve not only as a training ground for martial practice but also as venue for healthy exchange of ideas and principles in order to further the cause and expansion of Filipino Martial Arts as a whole. It is not our goal to train fighters but rather train good, law-abiding citizens who are able to adequately protect themselves and their loved-ones.
EDGE/IMPACT WEAPONS§
Proper usage of sticks, clubs, machetes, bolos, knives or any long or short weapon held primarily in one or both hands. Considered by many as the traditional primary training category of Kali to develop the techniques which will serve as the "foundation" of both armed and unarmed combat. Although blade-oriented, the system usually employs rattan sticks for safety purposes, but the techniques are suited for either edged or impact weapons.

As edged and impact weapons are normally not readily available in many situations, students are trained to use anything that is on hand such as ball-point pens, flashlights, umbrellas and the like as a tools for defense and fighting using the concepts, principles and techniques derived from the usage of edged/impact weapons.

UNARMED COMBATIVES/SABAKAN§
Sabakan combines western boxing techniques and principles with the empty hand striking techniques of the Filipino Martial Arts which are derived from the edge/impact weapon training. Kali fighters spend a great deal of time on the use of weapons. Take the weapons away, and you leave the Kali practitioner with faster techniques, since he is now striking with a lighter weapon - his hands.

"Mens Sana In Corpore Sano" - A Sound Mind in A Sound Body. A martial artist must not only possess a mind equipped with knowledge of certain techniques or maneuvers but also must have the physique to perform them properly, effectively and efficiently. Thus, we train to be able to be strong enough, fast enough and agile enough to be combat-effective and fighting fit. We integrate the latest knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques with FMA-based movements in order to build a holistic program geared to physical fitness that will carry over functionally to the practice of FMA.

Self-preservation and Personal Combatives stems mostly from having the proper mindset. It is not enough to train the physical attributes but it is much more important to train one's mind. A vast majority of the time,it is our mind we will be utilizing in keeping us aware and safe from harm as we go about our day to day activities. Only with the proper mindset can we be truly be able to prevent and avoid danger and when need be effective in protecting ourselves and our loved ones.
